Abstract

This study aims to determine educational researchers' knowledge of research ethics, focusing on key ethical considerations, standards, norms, principles, guidelines, and codes of conduct. Ethical guidelines are essential in the world of educational research, providing a framework that guides researchers through difficult moral situations, ensuring they conduct their work with integrity, respect, and responsibility. This study used a descriptive cross-sectional survey approach with a quantitative methodology among the educational researchers in Bangladesh. A structured questionnaire was used to evaluate the participants' knowledge about 24 specific research ethics items. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were used to measure the percent of correct answers to the ethical knowledge statements and to examine the relationships between the knowledge scores and the demographic characteristics. Overall, the research shows that researchers are broadly knowledgeable of ethics, and there are varying degrees of knowledge across the themes; for example, Assent, Anonymity, Transparency, and Dual Relationships, etc.
