Fatima Alam is
currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Audiology and
Speech Language Pathology at Proyash Special Education and Research (PISER),
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). She also holds the position of
Department Coordinator. In addition to her role at PISER, she worked as an
adjunct faculty member at the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), University
of Dhaka, in 2022. From February to June 2022, she also served as an adjunct
faculty at the University of Liberal Arts (ULAB).
Prior to her current position,
Fatima was a Lecturer in English at Ranada Prasad Shaha University from 2016 to
2019. She completed her BA in Linguistics (2014), earning 2nd place in merit,
and her MA in Linguistics (2015), also securing 2nd place, both from the
University of Dhaka. Fatima was awarded the Dean’s Award for her outstanding
performance in her BA examination. Additionally, she completed her MSS in
Speech-Language Pathology (PMSLP) in 2019, where she achieved 1st place in
merit from the Department of Communication Disorders, University of Dhaka.
Fatima teaches courses such as
Clinical Linguistics, Speech-Language Pathology, and Language and Linguistics,
and she also supervises thesis projects. Her research interests encompass
Linguistics, Clinical Linguistics, Communication Disorders, Speech-Language
Pathology, Sociolinguistics, and Pragmatics.
